Widely regarded as one of our greatest modern poets, Yehuda Amichai’s poetry is celebrated for its depth, its passion, and its straightforward language.  Dr. Cutter explores Amichai’s portrayal of love as a poignant experience of pain and joy; melancholy and anticipation. 

Dr. William Cutter is Emeritus Professor of Hebrew Literature and Steinberg Professor Emeritus of Human Relations at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institue of Religion.

Violence, Peace, and the Ethics of Judaism: Ancient Texts and Modern Dilemmas

Are classical Jewish texts advocating peace or violence?  Dr. Eisen explores this ambiguity and gives us insights into how these texts are relevant to understanding the struggles facing Jews in both Israel and the Diaspora.  

 

Dr. Robert Eisen is Professor of Religion and Director of the Judaic Studies program at the George Washington University.
